Would you like to model a skylight in your flat roof?
The "roof window" function is currently not available for flat roofs.
We recommend cutting an opening in your roof and inserting a customizable shape.
Step 1: Model a Hopper in Your Roof
1. Model your flat roof
2. Create a hopper in the roof
To do this, go to Build Staircase Straight or Spiral Staircase Hopper.
- Draw the boundaries of your hopper.
- Edit them as needed.
3. Configure your hopper without a ceiling
- Select the room label "hopper."
- Open its settings panel by clicking the gear icon in its contextual menu.
Step 2: Add a Customizable Shape to the Hopper
In both 2D and 3D:
1. Go to Arrange Customizable Shapes to use these shapes.
2. Choose the "carpet" shape and place it in your hopper to represent the glazing of your skylight.
Step 3: Adjust the Glazing
1. Open the shape's settings panel
- Select the shape by clicking on it.
- Open the settings panel of your shape by clicking the gear icon in its contextual menu.
2. Modify the dimensions of the shape to the desired size
You can modify its dimensions numerically in the settings panel by editing the fields
- height
- width
- depth
Tip: In 3D, you can also use the stretch handles.
Step 4: Apply a Texture
1. Choose a glass texture from the menu Decorate Material Glass,
2. Apply it to your shape.
Your skylight is now modeled.
For further customization, you can model the skylight frame using additional customizable shapes.
