Model an ALCOVE in a wall

You can easily create an alcove or decorative niche in your wall.

Step 1: Place an opening in your wall

1. Model a wall to the desired thickness.

2. Choose an opening from the menu Build > Doors and Windows > Openings. 

3. Position the opening on the wall:

4. Edit its dimensions and positions as desired. 

   - Method 1: Click on the measurements to edit them

   - Method 2: Open the opening's settings panel and edit the dimensions and positions. 

Step 2: Model a back for the opening

In 2D or 3D, from the menu Arrange > Parametric Shapes

1. Choose the "panel" shape and place it in your plan. 

2. Resize this shape slightly larger than the opening.

To do this: 

- Select it

- Open its settings panel by clicking on the gear icon in its contextual menu. 

Tip: In 3D, you can also use the stretch handles.

3. Place it in the wall, at the back of the opening.

To do this: 

- Select it

- Open its settings panel by clicking on the gear icon in its contextual menu. 

- Edit the position settings

Tips:

   - In 3D, you can also use the stretch handles.

   - Use the "ALT" key while moving to disable object/wall collision. 

The alcove or decorative niche in your wall is now modeled.

You can now add decorative elements inside the niche.
